Position Title: Health and Safety Instructor

Reports To: Health and Safety Director

Exemption Status: Non Exempt (Hourly)
 
Hours: Part Time/per diem

Position Purpose

Conducts training programs at the worksite or community location as schedule /contracted by the
Health and Safety Department, of American Red Cross Kern Chapter. Provide instruction in how
to prevent, prepare for and respond to life’s emergency through excellent service delivery and
customer service.

Key Responsibilities

1. Promote and instruct American Red Cross Health and Safety courses.
2. Prepare, submit and maintain require records, statistics and reports within two days of teaching a class.
3. Coordinate with the Health and Safety Director to arrange class equipment and materials.
4. While on duty (travel to and from location and during class instruction) represent American Red Cross in a positive manner.
5. Adhere to all state and federal break and lunch break regulations.
6. Must have a current California driver’s license. Will be required to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification through the American Red Cross.
7. Participate in CPR Saturday.

Physical Demands

This position’s work assignments may vary from day to day; the position is active and requires the ability to stand, walk, climb and bend, kneel, balance, crouch and reach. This position requires the ability to push, pull or carry 10 to 50 lbs. This position requires the ability to travel between the chapter office and scheduled class locations. American Red Cross maintains a smoke free work environment. Smoking is not permitted in any Red Cross facility or vehicle.

Bilingual a plus
